Chapter 5

A Chapter by GMAngel

"I am accustomed to sleep and in my dreams to imagine the same things that lunatics imagine when awake." --Rene Descartes

Finally, I am here. My haven. I couldn't help the smile that spread across my face as I stared at the image before me. The room was extremely large.

It was pretty much made up of an entire floor that was meant to be an attic but had been converted into a lofty spacious studio by my adoptive great-grandmother who used to teach Eleanor ballet.

When I came back, Eleanor had secretly shown me the studio and had offered to let me have it in times when I needed to get away from the people downstairs.

With some financial help on her part, we completely changed the room to fit an artistically inclined teenagers studio.

The walls had been painted black with one section being made completely of glass-a bar stretched from one side of it to the other.

There were silky black curtains flowing from the walls and the glass. Two red aerial silks hung from the middle of the ceiling.

The floor was completely made of mahogany and shined in the sunlight that filtered through the window.

On the other side of the room was a platform. On it sat a beautiful crystal clear KAWAI grand piano, a white drum set, a microphone with its stand, a violin in its case leaning on its stand, a flute in its case, an acoustic guitar, and a red electric guitar.

I know, too many instruments right?

In the middle of the room, pushed up against the back wall was a speaker and DJ set. There was a large plasma television mounted on the wall.

I raced across to the right side of the room and proceeded to belly flop onto my fluffy red couch. Ugh! It's so fluffy!! I sighed, content before closing my eyes and burrowing my face in the softness, allowing myself to succumb to the darkness of dreamland.

It was nighttime and I was on a rooftop in nothing but a large t-shirt, my hair down, and barefoot, the moon shining in the sky, a peaceful feeling emanating from the night itself as the moons light reflected off the surrounding glass buildings. As I looked around me I couldn't help but smile. It was breathtaking.

The lights of the city twinkled around me, glinting off buildings. The bustle of people down on the sidewalk and in their cars drifted up to my ears.

Looking around I suddenly realized that it seemed eerily familiar as if I had been there before.

I turned around slowly letting the wind rush through my hair swirling around my head, my shirt billowing around me only to come face to face with a scene so precious a grin wide enough to make my cheeks hurt broke across my face.

A mother and her child were sitting on a blanket a few feet from where I was standing.

There was a telescope in front of them and a basket full of what I was assuming were snacks. From what I could make out, the child had long brown pigtails and was wearing a blue dress. She seemed to be around three or four years of age.

The woman beside her, I'm guessing her mother, was dressed casually in jeans and a camisole. Her back was turned so I couldn't see her face but I guessed that she was very pretty.

She seemed to be around her mid twenties. At the moment they were gazing at the stars.

The woman pointed up at the sky and pulling the child closer to her said, "Troianne, look there. Do you see it?"

"What, Mommy?"

"That constellation right there sweetheart. It's called Ursa Minor."

I watched as the girl raised her tiny hand to point towards the sky like her mother had done. "What's that one called, Mommy?"

"That one is Libra," the woman said with a smile in her soft lilting voice.

"And that one?"

"That is Lupus."

"Mama, I wanna see Gemini!"

"I'm sorry love, Gemini is not here today. Maybe next time okay?"

"Alwight," she said with an obvious pout in her soft voice.

Upon hearing the little girls saddened voice her mother started to tickle her mercilessly. The little girl, Troianne's, squeals and laughter echoed around the rooftop as she attempted to wriggle out of her mothers grip.

Her mother chuckled lightly as she finally let go allowing the child to turn around in her arms and hug her, finally revealing the child's face to me.

She had a heart shaped face with rosy cheeks and high cheekbones. Her soft brown skin and bright eyed smile made her look angelic.

The little girl oddly though, looked like me. A younger, much happier, version of me that is with her pigtails, baby blue dress, and bright brown eyes full of life. She was smiling and had an aura of pure innocent joy radiating from her.

Suddenly, the scene changed. We were no longer on top of the rooftop filled with laughter and happiness. No, instead we were in a dark room. The mother clutching at the child tightly.

"Troianne, I want you to know that I love you, okay? I love you no matter what happens. You're my baby girl," the woman said in a choked voice full of tears.

Her face though, was distorted and blurry almost as if she was fading in and out of existence.

All I could make out of her features was her long brown hair and her lips-almost like I was looking at her from the ground up.

Suddenly, the scene changed again and I was in her arms but I felt different. I felt like I had known this woman my entire life. She felt safe and warm and loving.

I looked up into the woman's brown eyes and saw only the reflection of a face. My face.

Suddenly I was being ripped away from her. I could hear the wails of a child and realized then that it was me.

"I love you Troianne, so much! I'm going to come for you okay baby girl?! I'll come for you!"

With one last glimpse of the woman the scene changed again and I was standing in front of a door in a room completely covered in a sickening pink. Pink curtains, pink rugs, pink bed sheets, pink walls. You name it, it was pink.

I frowned turning myself around. I walked over to the full length mirror in the corner of the room and peered at my reflection. I gasped at what I saw.

It was the little girl but this time her hair was hanging down her back and she was wearing a white gown and tiny white shoes.

Her once vibrant eyes and sunny smile was gone replaced instead with a tight lipped frown and dark cold eyes.

The door opened unexpectedly and as I whipped around to see who the intruder was the little girl in the mirror turned with me.

There was something strange in the way she moved with me. Almost like we were in sync with each other.

There, standing in the middle of the doorway was the ice queen herself.

"Kierra." I whispered.

In the mirror the girls lips moved but no sound came out. She walked towards me with her evil smile and chills ran down my back as I turned away from her.

Troianne shuddered in the mirror a look of terror in her eyes. I felt it when Kierra's hand landed on my shoulder and she brushed the hair away from my neck.

We stared into the mirror and as my eyes connected with Troianne's I felt cold invade my system and my breath caught.

Troianne was standing there with Kierra behind her holding her the same way she was holding me. Mirror Kierra and the one standing behind me leaned down and pressed her lips to my ear.

"Callista..."

I woke up panicking and out of breath. As I struggled to catch my breath I dragged myself off of the couch and out the door of the studio locking it behind me.

I stumbled down the stairs, through my closet, and into my room where I proceeded to stumble into the bathroom and fall onto the tiles still shaking from shock.

I covered my face with my hands as I attempted to control my erratic breathing.

There was only one thought on my mind.

What. The. Actual. F**k?

i like it very much.... i didnt realize it was a dream. I thought she was remembering something....

I have a question what "ABL" stands for? I never saw it before.... You dont need to write it, the three dots are enough to show you are doing something different...
