A Familiar Unfurled.

A Familiar Unfurled.

A Poem by G.GabrielPen
"

Story of a girl and her pet, as told by the pet.

"

The shadow of her lip-tips
that defiant pout,
protruding from the corner again
It doesn't matter what she's done, no doubt

just whom - how hard - and when

I'm a bad little cat, myself
just so much made-of-jade

and resting on this shelf

I get out at night
right off this ledge and far away from foul light
--- then my generosity knows no measure!
so so nice, sacrificial birds and mice
these presents, such edgy treasure

stealthily I cater your hedge
then out of sight and censure

and when that churl, my lovely girl
is from out her corner freed
- until her next en-devil'd deed

in turn she keeps my saucer full -

she dresses me for cakes and tea

upon her apron strings I swing and pull

I'm her familiar honed and bred

it should seem, we are the perfect team

as I feed her the fowl , - she doles me the cream
