“All Who Served”A Poem by G. A. BernardThis week Veterans Day and Remembrance Day will be commemorated in the United States and Canada. This piece was written in reflection of the dayThey heard the call And stepped up for many reasons So young and innocent in the beginning Hardened by the life of a warrior they Soon realized War was not a game but at Times they all felt like pawns being moved by the Generals and Politicians Coming home was joyous for many while others Could never let "It" go and darkness overtook their lives So many paid the ultimate price and were left in countries Many had never heard of before the outbreak of war We remember them all and their sacrifice for the greater good Their intentions were of the highest order as men and women and in remembering them we do not glorify the act of war just the selflessness of family members, neighbours or friends who did what had to be done Humanity needs to continue its evolution and see war as an abomination for us all In the meantime, we should show respect for the millions of human beings around the world who have answered the call of service © G.
