Adhuc aleae non iacta estA Poem by GARf"Adhuc aleae non iacta est - verba sunt, non acta."
About thirteen years ago, when I was taking swimming lessons for the first time, the entire class was allowed to jump off the diving board. The whole class excitedly lined up, with some of the children angling for the front of the line. Contend and in no hurry, I took my spot toward the end of the line. I waited my turn in line, watching the kids jump off into the water in front of me without any hesitation. When my turn came about, I climbed the ladder and walked to the end of the diving board... I choked, I don't know why. I remember standing there, absolutely terrified of jumping. A breeze started blowing, and I folded my arms in front of me, dripping. All of the kids waiting behind me grew anxious and impatient, while those who had already jumped watched with detached amusement. The sun set with me still waiting there, unable to move. © 2008 GARfAuthor's Note
