The Storm

The Storm

"

Just a little short sorta-romantic story. :D

"

The rain beat against the windshield. The wipers tried their best to clear the view, but the driver still couldn't see anything. The truck in front of him was kicking up water, obscuring the view of the road. Knuckles white, he turned and looked at his passenger.

She looked as worried as he was. She wasn't complaining, mind you, but you could see in her body language that she was worried. She looked beautiful, sitting there. Making his descision, he turned on the turn signal and got off interstate. The view began to clear.

They came to a gas station, just off of the exit. He parked the car, grabbing a jacket from the back seat. He walked around the front, opened the door his passenger. He put the jacket over her, and they ran to the door of the gas station.

Strangely, it was unlocked. Seeing the mounting storm, the attendant must have abandoned their post, and, in their haste, forgotten to lock the door. The walked into their sanctuary, closing the door to the chaos behind them.

They sat next to each other, leaning against the half-wall the cash register was on. His hand in hers, her head on his shoulder, his resting on hers, the storm faded into the background and they fell into sleep together. Neither dreamed; the reality far surpassed any fantasy they could have imagined...
