Little GirlsA Poem by G. Harrison QuayLITTLE GIRLS
Little girls are the most precious things in their little dresses so sweet, and ankle socks and shiny shoes and their hair combed out so neat.
That was on Sunday morning for church or when they're off to meet the queen. The rest of the time their hair is wild and they're dressed in their playtime jeans.
Or tennis shoes and a pair of shorts and a shirt with some stains on the front. A girl needs something practical when she's off to start the hunt
for pretty stones and pieces of glass to add to her treasure chest; the one she keeps hidden under her bed that holds all the things she loves best.
She'll sit with a kitty or raggedy doll and chat for an hour or two about all the things she did today and the pebble that got in her shoe.
Then she's ready for tea with her baby doll, a stuffed bear and a cookie or two, and maybe she'll add just one more guest. Mommy, she's invited you.
And later when she's all tucked up in bed with her faorite stuffed friend by her side, her parents can rest with smiles on their faces knowing their little girl is alright. © 2008 G. Harrison QuayFeatured Review
