Gaurded by an Angel

Gaurded by an Angel

A Poem by Brandon M. Whittaker
"

It's been a while since I've put up a poem, so I figured I'd stretch my wings of creativity and go for a pretty pathetic push for brilliance.

"

Awake and drifting

Through faded pages

That tell the story of consciousness

The seas that rock this vessel confort not

For away from home I am

The love I left at home nervous and worried

My mind knows only fatigue

My body cries for rest

For out here in these vicious seas

My work is my life

Feet aching, muscles slouching

Eyes drooping, threating to shut the world away

My heart reaches out to that not-so distant shore

Where my love waits

Tears of lonliness streaming down her rosy cheeks

Soon I shall return to her

Til then I remain

Guarded by an angel

So that my heart remains intact.
