Portent Fall

Portent Fall

A Poem by Brandon M. Whittaker
"

I felt very very poetic today, I'm not sure why, but I feel like I should be writing poetry so here we go.

"

Thine is just a soul

Searching for lost meaning

In the lies of life and death

The significance of the dance

Of death

Rides on my shoulders

Just like a muse

In time

A fucked tragedy that will combine

The lives of a hundred fates

Looming over thee

With smile of deception

Portents of rifts in the mind

The heart

The tragic song of a dying tradition

The lies

The secret

The lives of those who cared

For the guise

That led us all to believe

We weren't alive

But we kept on living this time

As if nothing was wrong

Nothing could ever break free

From the protection we thought we had

The walls have crumbled

Beneath

The barrage of insecurity

That defiles the heart and the soul

That leaves us all behind

To die...
