SoldierA Poem by Brandon M. WhittakerI got a spur of inspiration from an email my buddy sent me.He fights for a reason Even if that reason's unknown When he's out there he cares not If he ever goes home Because he knows that his family Is safe and they're true To things he protects For the red, white, and blue And he serves for his friends And his sick old grandfather Who lays there day and night Wishing his granson would come home But this man still fights For what he believes And he loves all his buddies Who fight at his side And he'd die for them any day No matter the price Whether it's death or its freedom The sacrifices he's made Makes him what he is And the thought of this tryanny Knocking on his country's front door Is a nightmare That he'd rather not endure Because he's a soldier Fighting for the rights Of everyone back home And they sleep soundly at night Because he's there In heart and in thought He's there And he'll never be away No matter how far he's gone No matter what he has done He knows and he stays For the sake of the fight He is a soldier © 2008 Brandon M.
