I Still Remember

I Still Remember

A Poem by Brandon M. Whittaker
"

This is a poem that I wrote a while back when I was all broken up over how a friend and I had...kind of let our friendship drift away.

"
I walk along this narrowed path
Wondering, caught inside my past
There's nothing here to make me forget
The circumstances that ended our bond
The bond we had...I thought it strong
But it wasn't strong enough
It couldn't withstand my flaws and weaknesses
It buckled, it cracked, and finally crumbled
Now as I walk down this path
I see her walking the opposite way
I look at her and she back at me
I try to smile, but I'm too afraid
My lips twitch at the corners
A small smile
She sees it, and she quickly looks away
As we pass each other she looks back
But keep walking the path
I don't want to look back and see her face
Because I still remember
How much I hurt her
The lies
The deception
The unnessecary fights
So I walk the path
And hope time cures the silence
