"...I found it..."

Pyth raised an eyebrow at his older brother as he knelt down over Fyrethil's body.  Kathka had found the small shard of soul that they needed to resurrect their soul broken brother.  Just when they thought all hope was lost, maybe Fyrethil wouldn't be dead for good after all.

"Can you manipulate it?"

Kathka shook his head.  "Of course I can, Pyth, since when have you ever doubted my powers?"

Pyth shrugged and chuckled to himself.  "Look, just get our brother back up on his feet so that we can go home and start the reconstruction of the homelands.  Although that energy corruption is going to be a bit of an obstacle to lift."

The elder phoenix nodded and then closed his eyes in concentration, his hands moving down to touch the open chest wound that plagued Fyrethil's body.  He then began to utter words in phoenixian, his hands began to glow as he did this.

Pyth watched with an intensity that could melt steel, and the knot in his stomach seemed to tighten as Fyre's body began to glow as well.  It was working, the wounds began to heal themselves, and Fyrethil's flame began to softly flare up from his body.

"I'm rebuilding his soul now...his heart hasn't started yet because the soul is not potent enough in its fires to provide the body with proper saturation..."

"Okay, save me the biology lesson and just get to it," Pyth countered, causing a smile to split Kathka's face.

"Okay, here we go."  With one final show of magic, Kathka slipped his mind and his spirit into Fyre's body, moving all the way inside until he reached the Chrondelothas Phoenix's soul.  After the tiny shard that was left was located, he began to pour his energies into the shard.  There was still a small bit of perpetual flame left surrounding the little bit, so he enhanced it with his magics and caused it to flare.  Slowly, the soul began to materialize inside Fyre's body, the flame growing brighter and more defined.

"It should be fine now...it'll do the rest on its own..."  Kathka then withdrew his presence from his younger brother's body and stood up, watching as Fyre's body flame continued to flare and burst from his body.

Finally, the soul became complete and Fyre's eyes opened, his flame burnin brightly, its sapphire color a wonderous sight to see.

"Thank the gods...." Pyth muttered.

Just as suddenly as it had burned sapphire, Fyre's flame suddenly burst once more and the color changed.

To black.

"THE GODS!?"  He roared, an energy blast firing from his hand and hitting Pyth square in the chest, blasting a hole in him and sending him flying eighteen feet backwards.  "The gods will PAY!"  Fyre screamed and turned to Kathka, advancing on him slowly.

"Fyrethil...what's...what...are you doing?"

"The gods will pay...and you will not stand between me and their destruction..."  With one swift movement, Fyrethil executed a side kick that caught Kathka full in the gut.  His leg actually punched through his brother's body, protruding out the other side.  A smirk lay on Fyre's face as he knocked Kathka off his leg with an energy blast, sending chunks of Kathka's body flying in all directions.

"Rest easy my brothers...until we meet again, have fun being reborn..."

With an evil chuckle, Fyreth disappeared from the crater, leaving his brothers lying dead on the spot.
