Our favourite pastime involved catching dragonflies and butterflies.

We were too young and too wild, to understand the intricacies of life.

The best part of my day was when I saw you and you held my hand.

Every night before I fell asleep; I asked God to keep you safe for me.

Suddenly,

I started wearing my best dresses when I knew I’d see you.

Suddenly,

My hands started getting clammy when you held them.

Suddenly,

I started blushing when you looked at me for more than a second.

Secretly,

We discovered the wonders and pleasures of a first kiss.

Wonderfully,

I found myself at the altar in front of a sea of faces that paled beside yours.

Proudly,

You said words you had whispered to me for everyone to hear.

Lovingly,

You smiled at me. And smiling back,

were the eyes of the boy I fell in love with as a girl….
