History's Echo

History's Echo

A Poem by Patrick Lee

As fortunes told, the future fades
for death disguised it’s masquerade
as acts of peace and treaties signed,
while armies build in strength and size.

Then heroes answer their leader’s call
unknowing soon they too shall fall.
Then wars are fought and blood is shed
as millions count the countless dead.

Then on the land and sea and air
the armies meet and then prepare,
for total chaos, a killing time.
A death to all by their design.

Then on the hills the armies kill
Distributing their hate at will.
The bloodied corpses span the field,
as neither side attempts to yield.

Destroying all within their path,
unleashing every ounce of wrath.
Giving the land a bloody bath,
the population more than halved.

Then unseen creatures feed on flesh,
the viral messengers of death.
These Bio-warfare germs they spread,
leaving the victim’s victor,
Dead.

Everyone dies.

My imagination is my playground. I am an artist. I am a writer. I am a poet. Or at least I was, or perhaps will be. One can never tell. The difference, I would guess, can only be determined by.. more..
