A very long day

A very long day

A Poem by Funk
"

In my day

"

It was a very long day, the longest day forever

So long the shadows cast for miles and the wind tormented the trees

The sun cast down it’s diamonds and the earth began to dream.

The flowers rose above the earth in chains and tapestry

The grasses crumpled their own blades out of boredom and nothing less.

The day grew impatient and the winds began to roar.

The trees in fear crouched down so low their own shadows and hid among

A water mist approached just once and backed away again.

The day carried on and on it went, the changes meant nothing and nothing more.

No Night-No Sleep! The roses screamed in the anger of betrayal.

Then the grasses began to boil in the air down far below. A mountain arose to bring some rest. It slowly crawled away.

The roses died and left their barbed  chains covering the trees

The day went on and on again, still no caring for the change.

The grasses burned themselves up in it, the diamonds of the sun.

The shadow stayed till all was gone stretching past an eye could see.

Eventually it laid itself down on the ground to seep beneath the earth.

The wind and sun now all that’s left except dead chains that bound the trees

The sun grew stronger and the wind grew strong but the day would not end yet.

Wind gathered soil to fill the sky along with dust and what had once been leaves

The sun burnt them too, then burnt everything, the wind had lost, t died.

The day, the lonely day continued on until there was nothing left to light. Burnt even it’s own smoke and now there is nothing left but the diamonds of light to light. No reflection to present itself.

A day is still a day I guess even though it takes anything it wants. It’s just a day and nothing more.

The last day of your life.
