Breaktime

Breaktime

A Poem by maiarusm

The feel of strain

hangs on my shoulders

I wish it away, but I refrain...

from stealing away...

time for a much coveted break

I force my body

to accomodate...

    the headaches,

        the annoyance,

      and the frustration

that eats away

        the patience

I've reserved

   for the task at hand

I wonder

          shall i be able

  to

                  finish this?

       I wish to rest

but no,

      this break time

I

           will

   work

...

     ....

               or maybe not.

Sleep now.

Author's Note

maiarusm
I was very sleepy around the time I was finishing this. It started with me being tired from reading my lecture notes, continued later on with me laying my head on the table and scribbling this on a piece of paper... and ending with me asleep. I believe it's obvious which parts I was still awake, slightly drowsy, and literally fighting away sleep, don't you think? I actually cut off a single line from this...I'm not sure whether or not I should put it... the real ending of this piece being the line, 'Sleep now.'.

You should definitely include that last line in there. It's a perfect, warm, all-encompassing blanket for this sleepy piece to wrap itself up with.
