Forgiving God

Forgiving God

A Poem by John
"

Title explains it all

"

"Dear Father--

Where do I begin?

I don’t have much longer

May I confess my sins?

I am a terrible man

Who abused his power

Killed the men and raped the women

That were kept prisoner in the tower

I led my forces--

Into this city

Hacking and slashing from our horses--

Leaving our names and yours bloody

But now I’m wounded

And my blood is running

My chest was pounded

And now death is coming"

I can feel myself slip

I feel your forgiving arms

My mortal head is starting to dip

I’m free from humanity’s harm
