Rest in peace St. Valentine

Rest in peace St. Valentine

A Poem by Frozen Eyes
"

Valentine's Day Happy??

"

On a February 13th he healed her ailment,

Julia was no more a victim of impaired vision.

Miracle it was that sculpted the legends,

That one evening in a Roman prison.

That first note that he wrote to her

Signed “Your Valentine” rest lacks clarity.

They may have wondered & pondered

Was it romance? Or Love for humanity?

Julia, must have cried her heart out

When Valentinus was being tortured to death

Was it worth it to regain her sight?

To watch him suffer till his last breath.

He was adamant as much as he was brave

I believe it was for a greater cause.

He was a rebel, whom they couldn’t enslave,

It wasn’t the end but just a pause.

After all these centuries passed

He watches over us from far and above

Rest in peace St. Valentine!

We follow your legacy of spreading “LOVE”!

This is brilliant FE. I never even thought there was an actual Valentinus - just thought that some poor sod who had been made a saint at some stage had been signed up as poster boy for the fledgling romance industry. This really will stay with me. Thanks for sharing this. :)

I could see the imagery being played out like a type of drama or play. The image you chose goes along perfectly with the piece. Thank you for sharing with me again!
