Weight Of The World

Written by my friends and I for everyone who feels like they're bearing the weight of the world.

Sometimes I walk around with my head bowed, angry at the world.
No, more like I’m angry at myself because of what I decided to do.
I smile, not because I’m happy, but for someone else.
I laugh, not because it’s funny, but because it’s how I cope.
I glare at my ceiling wondering why I decided to live for everyone but myself.
I wonder why I took on the weight of the world.

Sometimes I feel like it’d be better to give up and waste away.
I feel like there’s no one around to help me through all my pain.
I have my family and all the support I could ever want or need.
So when we this weight finally recede?

At times I wonder what I did to deserve this.
Sometimes I wonder where I went wrong.
Most times I can hardly fathom where I want to go in my life.
I want to blame it on this weight, but can I really?

Those monsters on the wall are mine alone.
I put them there, and I made them stare.
I gave them their gleaming eyes, and hate filled appearance because of fear.
Fear made me put them there and fear keeps me from removing them.
I suppose I’ll get rid of them one day.
But I just don’t when that day will come.

For everyone who feels like they’re bearing the weight of the world
You’re not alone.
Everyone feels like that every once in awhile.
The only difference is what made you start carrying it.
And because I know how it feels, I hope one day someone comes to alleviate it.
I hope someone comes to help you bear the weight of your world.
