A Poem by Sarah Cristobal
"

Second poem from my book in progress 'You'll Know When You're Here'

"

Grandma took me to the courthouse steps

So we could see the river

Making a temporary (and repeated) reclamation

But more impressive

Flowed powerfully

Under our trailer steps

Come up from muddy Sun Valley ditches

Until dust roads became raging rivers

And large yards void brown lakes

Nature, laughing at our discomfort

A short piece which describes well how savage mother nature can become. There's no stopping her. I have seen railway tracks reclaimed. Trees growing in the centre of them years after the last train ran. This is a memory that would certainly remain vivid. Must have been frightening. I liked the personification of nature. That was effective.

Was my pleasure dear Sarah and you are welcome.
No matter how sophisticated our science becomes, when Mother Nature breaks bad, we feel it. This offering sounds like a memoir, a recollection of an actual event. When these things occur when we are young, they can live in our memories for a lifetime.
