Anastasia HydeA Chapter by FriskaAfter sending Michelle to bed Ana was left with her own mind, it wasn’t a very happy place but a place where Ana had learned to adapt and find peace in it. She sat down on the couch alone and looked down out the window at the crippled city. Something she had worked hard to keep from falling into utter chaos. She was so devastated by Michelle’s “death” that she had to distract herself with something other than just curling up in a fetal position. This distraction came in the form of rebuilding the city. Some time after Michelle’s supposed death the city for whatever reason plunged into darkness, panic was out in the streets and multiple gangs had run rampant, the police force of armed walkers, soldiers with high powered suits fit with mechanical arms and legs who kept control, attempted to keep control but were quickly overthrown, only one stayed living and was in the care of Ana, his name was Isaac, he quickly became one of her personal guards. She had found Isaac wounded with a few bullets in his chest but other than that he was fine and Ana was able to save him with the help of Lorlei. Ana hated the fact that Lorlei, at such a young age, had to witness this kind of chaos happening around her, death and destruction was not something an eight year old should be witnessing but if Ana had sent Lorlei out on her own she would have easily been killed. Since Ana wasn’t quite ready or wanting to lose another of her family she ensured that Lorlei was at her side at all times. She kept her by the hand and eventually they took shelter in what would become her main headquarters. Ana took the time to create a plan until she started authorizing herself, showing her true strength by defeating each gang’s leader once they showed their faces, one such leader became her other personal guard, his name was Jen. Jen was a roughed up, pale looking boy about only nineteen years of age. He was in with a pack smokers, he didn’t smoke cigarettes. The term “smokers” is to describe the gangs of people that wear gas masks and use a sort of chemical poison to attack with, Ana, being able to resist the poison was able to easily overtake Jen and keep him as an ally. Throughout the time of Ana taking rule it was all about her against the world. She would constantly take on gang leader after gang leader only to beat them down and have them pledge their allegiance toward her. To the gang members and leaders it was the ultimate challenge, to bring down Anastasia Hyde would be to gain ultimate control over the city, but it was easier said than done to do so. Ana was a near unstoppable force and coupled with the loss of her wife she wouldn’t be taken down from any blow. With her wife back some of the former leaders began to see Ana as weaker than before but they were soon reminded where they were. Ana would take down any uprising, in addition to her strength she had her guards who swore allegiance to Ana and they too were no pushovers. Now with Michelle within the confines of Ana’s headquarters who knows how powerful she would be. Michelle was simply a legend to all the people within the city, just a girl who supposedly was in a relationship with Ana. This legend was only thought to be as such, just a myth, that is until Jeffery brought the blonde haired girl with the bright blue eyes straight to Ana’s main building. Some watchers for the gangs had spotted her and doubted themselves, taking a few pictures to take back to the others to try to confirm what they had saw but it was all too true. Michelle was too real of a person and misaligned with the legends she was not dead. Anastasia pondered on all of this as she stared out the window, her numerous fights with the gangs and the even more numerous fights that were to come were wearing on her, she knew eventually she would break but maybe with her wife here and a good night’s rest she would be able to function properly. She began thinking of the day that she had awoken and found Michelle lying still next to her. It was immediately a concern to Ana as Michelle never slept in past Ana, she would always wake up before her and make breakfast for her and Lorlei but this time she was lying still, unmoving even when her name was called. She sat there for multiple hours just trying to tell herself that she was having an awful nightmare but it was real, she must have cried for a good day or two until Lorlei finally dragged her out of the bed and caused her to leave her loved one in the house to rest. A resting place that Michelle was to have stayed as her permanent home. She never expected to see her again until Jeff came through and commotion was started over an unknown guest. Ana shuddered as she pried herself from her thoughts. Too many things to think about at once, especially the emotions that she had let out of captivity when she saw Michelle standing there, alive and well. It was definitely a sign of weakness but “to hell with anyone who saw” she thought. She kept watching the city streets, in the usual hustle and bustle of cars and people who were there, even for overtaking the city Ana was never considered a dictator and more of a savior, she was seen almost like an angel which to Ana was ironic. Ana brushed her white hair away from her face and took a step back from the window, she wasn’t fearful of any assassination attempt because the gangs who would do so were too fearful of her. For now Ana was going to need to take the night off, she wouldn’t need to watch the city for now, she turned around and started to walk out of her office room. She looked at the beautifully colored murals on the walls painted by Lorlei, she had asked if she could draw somewhere, being the child that she was so Ana ordered a gang to go collect paint brushes and numerous cans of paint to which Lorlei used to decorate the walls, sure the fumes made it impossible to stay in those certain rooms for awhile but it was well worth it once anyone was able to walk in, the colorful artwork shown bright even with the lights off as Ana flipped the light switch. She closed the door and went toward her room where she laid down with Michelle. Now reunited with her wife, she was finally able lie down in bed, snuggle up to something that wasn’t a pile of blankets, and fall into a deep, and well deserved sleep.© 2016 FriskaAuthor's Note
