Christmas Surprise.

Christmas Surprise.

A Poem by Marie

I can still remember the little girl standing still,
nose pressed against the window pane
enchanted by the Christmas Tree
decorated with different coloured lights
as she stood there in the rain.

She wasn't more than four or five.
Her eyes as wide as a saucer
to see such a thing of beauty
and ornaments animated as if alive.

They didn't have a tree at home
though it would have been so nice.
Her parents didn't buy one,
they couldn't afford the price.

She gazed longingly at the tree in wonder,
it was magical in her eyes
and she promised when she was older
she would buy one just as nice.

Then came Christmas morning.
Santa came at 3:00
and brought the little girl
her very own Christmas Tree.

Her heart near stopped when she saw it.
She couldn't believe her eyes.
There beneath the Christmas Tree
were gifts and beautiful toys.

How she loved that Christmas Tree.
She has it to this day.
The magic never faded.
Enchanting! Her children say.

Each year she makes a wish
upon the Christmas Tree
for health and happiness for her family
and for everyone, for you and you and me!

This poem radiates warmth, nostalgia, and the timeless magic of Christmas. The little girl’s wonder, her longing, and the fulfillment of her dreams through the unexpected gift of a Christmas tree create a poignant story of hope and joy. The transition from her childhood enchantment to the traditions she now shares with her children reflects the beauty of passing down love and gratitude. The final wish for everyone captures the true spirit of the season—kindness, connection, and goodwill. It's a heartfelt reminder of the simple yet profound joy the holidays bring, Marie.

Thank you for this. This time of year is always difficult for me. I grew up a navy brat and Christmas was usually a new place without family nice but always felt alone.

Your poem feels as special as the gift of santa for a child. It feels just like the starry eyes of little children full of surprise and bewilderment. The words are magical like the special christmas season. The peom beautifully grows like a sweet young woman into her womanhood. Caring and loving like a mothers wish for her family. Heartfelt lines just like a magical wish coming true. Best poem expressing the seasonal sentiments and traditions passed over, filled with hope and cheer dear Marie! Enjoyed your gift to us here sweetie!
