This poem reflects on the emotional journey of two individuals who, despite their love for each other, recognize that they may not be meant to be together romantically.
Vivid imagery is employed, especially in the comparisons to natural phenomena like the sun and moon, which symbolize the inevitability of change and loss.
Very well written, I missed your poetry, since I am in and out of here.
Thanks for sharing.

It's romantic love compromised to friendship love compromised to barely acquaintance. I cannot let go of this dream even when it has blown up in my face. My heart still pounds when I see his face although, now, I know it's not the face I fell hopelessly in love with. There is no answer. I've waited so long just to be able to talk and it's like somebody dropped a bomb...everything is destroyed. The hope to even be friends...gone.
*I appreciate your poetry, Marie, it's lovely. I guess the choice is mine to wallow in my misery. Misery. Misery.

The 'after effects' last for a while, but only we can decide how long. You are very aware that he is not the person you thought he was. It is wonderful that you found that out now, not some years down the road. Now, you have a chance to turn your life around. He has closed the door, but you can now open another door, one which will lead you to the person you were always meant to be with, Glenda. One who will be your good friend first and when you fall in love will be there for you and still your best friend. Should the romance dissolve, he will still be there for you, but as your forever friend. Someone whom you can always turn to during times when you feel you need someone to listen to what you have to say, etc. Keep the good memories from your present relationship and let the not so good memories drift away into the mists of time. Do NOT visit them there, Glenda. Move on and away from them but keeping the good ones in your mind and heart, they won't ever hurt you. You will heal yourself when you decide to let go. Your mood will be uplifted, your smile a little prettier, your light will shine a little brighter and attract somebody new into your life. There is someone out there walking the road of life looking for someone like you. You will meet him! I have no doubt about that, Glenda, and when you do you will forget about the other person immediately. The other person was a waste of your precious time and did not treasure your love, sadly. I feel you will be invited to a "Get together" over the Christmas period and the person who is looking for you on the road of life, will be there". Do let me know if he turns up, dear. I would truly love to know, Glenda. In the meantime, do something nice for yourself, it will bring healing too. Take very good care of you, keep safe and keep well, Glenda...

How I wish I hadn't. When we get what we wish for, sometimes we would be better off by far if our wish was not granted. PLEASE, dry your beautiful tears, Glenda. They are too precious to fall. By keeping the door to your heart closed, you will miss the one Fate has in store for you! Open up the door of your heart and place a beautiful Welcome mat outside it! Will send you Happy Holiday greetings closer to the time, dear Glenda...
Those are probably the best relationships ... the ones that do not rise to the level of perfect and encompassing love, but bring us a friend for life. Nice write. ~Jim

If the relationship should go 'wrong', they will part but always remain friends, because before they fell in love they had a good friendship and they will remain forever friends, forever. Thank you for kindly reading and for your very insightful comment, dear Jim...
Your words prove what your love and/or affection as was, was genuine ..
Does that mean the best has to be forgotten ?
Just because one day is freezing cold, does it mean that glorious time by the sea has to be deleted from your memory? Is it that easy?

The good memories will always bring joy and a smile and lovely thoughts of someone so special.
No deletion button in my memory, dear Emma! (Smiling). Whether it is easy or not depends on a person's state of mind, what they want after a relationship has sunk off "The Coast of Love". No point standing there looking at it in the hope that by some miracle it will rise again from its watery grave. One door closes and another opens and with the hope that real, pure, true, genuine love will one day enter and heal the broken hearted. Thank you for so kindly reading and for your very thought provoking comment, my dear friend Emma...
Took my breath away. I am in this same season of reframing love. Thank you. This is where I want my heart to be.

Romanic love creates dangerous expectations in some people. When the novelty of the relationship wears off, a feeling of disappointment, even betrayal, can take its place. Friendship may lack the uplift of romance, but it is certainly more dependable (and in some cases, physically safer).

Once in ancient times. A great writer wrote. When the love is finish. Better to separate than create more hell. You walked softly on a tender subject dear Marie. It is good if you can maintain friendship. Thank you dear poet for sharing the amazing poetry.

If the relationship was built on a good strong foundation of friendship first, then it is possible to maintain a caring friendship afterwards, like forever friends... Thank you for your so kind words, encouraging and helpful, John. I am most grateful...
(Most of them can relate to this ... even I does... but to me ... move on... acceptance didn't come as easy I thought, it was a struggle.. but worth at the end...)
This poem gives a gentle feeling of acceptance and with that of letting go and respecting each other gives life to live more meaningful than the love we imagine... yet thinking about the friendship we gain in the run... lovely write...
Thanks for sharing, Marie. 🙂
