Sunflowers follow the sunshine across the sky and when there is no sunshine they turn to each other for warmth. I saw this happen and it inspired this little poem...
Petals
velvet, bathed in gold
tenderly caress in the sunshine.
Reaching out, touching.
How they long to entwine, face to face.
Their friend the breeze
brings them together with gentle ease.
Leaves touch in floral bliss
as the Sunflowers share their very first kiss...
The poem gives such a sunny feel. The sunflowers all facing the sun like a group of cute preschoolers watching their teacher enact a rhyme or story! Pure delight as u mention" bathed in gold tenderly caress" The breeze makes them sway and touch giving us a romantic feel. Like in the B&W movies they would hint by two flowers kissing when there would be such scenes and then leave it to our imaginations especially for the young coming of age viewers . Nice one! Feels warm reading your sweet poem in the winter darks dear Marie!

Beautiful poem, firstly I love sunflowers, they are so beautiful and compares to the cycle of life, as it always faces the sun's direction...
Your poem illustrate tenderness and intimacy, suggesting that even natural elements experience a longing for connection. Words like "caress," "entwine," and "kiss" imbues the poem with romantic and intimate connotations, enhancing the emotional resonance.
Its aims to celebrate the beauty of nature and the connections within it, perhaps reflecting on the universal experiences of love and longing,.
TOO BEAUTIFUL, I LOVE THIS WRITE,
Thanks for sharing Marie.. 🤗🤗❤

Yes! A sharp gust of breeze even less from wind, has the weight of sunflowers' head bow to a near neighbour and, if you look very carefully, you see one or other gently shake to a smile. These words complete the moment when flowers fill an empty place - exquisitely
'Reaching out, touching.
How they long to entwine,
face to face.'
.. and, they do.

the way you personify a sunflower was very clever and heartwarming. who can forget the excitement of the first kiss? and that a flower's petals open up with the same joyous feelings is a memorable idea. i hope that you continue writing these kind of uplifting works. for now, i'll enjoy this piece and look forward to the sunrise tomorrow.
