Your poetry and that image and so much said in few words. All the description runs in the mind. It was just enough and so much more. How dramatic and tragedy Marie!. You wrote powerful trhree lines but its effect runs deep in the mind long after. Indeed its a wasteful life when you choose alcohol over the passionate devoted love of your dear one.

Very few words to say so much. Yes anything in excess is a major problem and even more so when substances. Well written

I admit to enjoying a glass of red wine.. why not, I could smoke! However, have had friends, good and wonderful people, end up with their bodies wracked - minds included. Adults are allowed to make choices for themselves.. it's what being 'grown up' means. But i've wondered if one gave someone a gun, or held him or her over the rails at a busy station or - over the edge of a high bridge for a week- would the smoker understand how near and yet.. so damned dangerous. As always you prepare the path for our thoughts to meander over, Marie..

i like the clever play on the word 'wasted.' i am long over my party days and alcohol is no longer my poison. my drug of choice is now is a pit of reading and a hot coffee.

Wow Marie, you did a good job. I love how such short words can decribe someones lives. A wasted life hiding behind a bottle afraid of love, very real and deep.
