Evening brings thoughts of you
sprinting across
the landscape of
my mind.

You duck and dodge
the shadows
as you search
for a clearing to bring
the setting sun
with you.

You arrive clothed in its
burnished copper glow
and
make your way
from my mind
to
your home in my heart,

where you light the fire
so we can both bask
in
its glowing embers.
