Big and round

 

Golden crunchy

 

Crispy salty.

 

Trodden underfoot

 

by someone too young

 

to understand

 

why tiny shards

 

pierce her naked foot.

 

Tears sting her eyes

 

then trickle down into

 

her bag of chips!

The title of this wonderful sentimental poem alerted me of what it was about. Yet I was not prepared for the full range of images that were about to emerge. The image of a child, whether by age or emotion, hurt and tearful fills my mind. This pulls at heart strings and asks for a hug. We are all children at times and need that hug.
