Youth and Age...

Youth and Age...

A Poem by Marie

Looking back in time
to days when we were young
and each new day brought great joy
with a new song to be sung.

Each face was lit up with a smile,
each mouth spoke kind words,
each tongue proclaimed ‘The Lord’
as we travelled mile by mile.

We never felt age creeping up
with each New Year that dawned.
We couldn’t see ourselves aging
as we lay back and yawned.

But time stands still for no one
and now our day has come,
in the Winter of our lives
we are sinking like the setting sun.

A most beautiful poem of age with great images and the metaphor of the seasons. I see the seeds of joy, smiles and kindness over the years have sprouted within us and grown into our own joy, smiles, and kindness an inner love ready for harvest. Lovely

We must know. We must make this our best day. Time isn't our friend. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.

I remember being a kid and how the days seemed endless in length.
Now they seem so short and fast....but for some reason...I don't feel much older than when I was a kid.
Maybe I am reversing.
quite a wonderful expression in these words.
