Yesterday.

Yesterday.

A Poem by Marie

Walking down the street of memory
I arrive at yesteryear,
where I have shared many a smile
and shed a silent tear.
Life's encounters broke me
and brought me to my knees.
Locked in a personal prison
I threw away the keys.

Fate came and smiled upon me
like the warm Summer sun
and I emerged from the darkness,
a new life I begun.
I learned many lessons and
life was kind to me.
Genuine were the friends I made
as I sailed on life's deep sea.

I gathered many treasures
gems of every hue.
None greater than the blessings
which came out of the blue,
and I gave thanks on bended knee
to my God up above.
for all his wondrous blessings.
The greatest of these being love
...

It seems I saw you an entire journey of life in front of my eyes while reading your poem Marie. It's really an amazing feeling. Life shows us so many colors 🎨 and experiences. And yet I emerged from the darkness, a new life I begun. I learned many lessons. Marvelous lines from your prose. The Cherry 🍒on top of cake 🍰 and I gave thanks on bended knee to my God up above. for all his wondrous blessings. The greatest of these being love...Only a person who has done with his desires and wishes can grant such a prayer to God 🙏🏻💫 and write this way. Great work Marie 👍🏻👏🏻

To me, this comes across as an ode to life's experiences. It references the treasures and lessons learned, whilst seeming to conclude that love is the greatest blessing of all. The inevitability of fate is also made clear.

Thank you for reading and for your very kind review, dear poet..
Gratitude a commodity in such shortage. Greed has replaced it and it is so refreshing to see it when it apprears. Very nicely written this poem highlights the beauty of such gratitude and how it takes time to mature and grow. Lovely Marie

such a sweet and optimistic poem.

life can be tough but then God shows you a way and you figured it out why that thing should've happened.the way you use ryhmes are amazing. and the fact that you hold on to "real" important things in order not to keep yourself in that prison is inspiring and i can feel it in the poem clearly . I really liked it. As the Beatles said, "all you need is love"
