unopened with many years.
Now, he had to find 'it', he searched through his tears.
She found it in a Cemetery
where once they chanced to be.
Small, shiny and round, she gave it to him, most lovingly.
He forgot all about it
but, now she'd passed away.
Their
tender loves songs
in
his heart continued still to play.
Suddenly he saw it
as it tumbled to his left foot.
Still small and brown and shiny his beautiful Chestnut!
He planted it in a little pot tended it with loving care,
and every time he looked at it he felt her presence there
and so it grew into a very tall, strong tree
which he planted near her grave in her loving memory...
At times of separation we search for things to hold onto be it a photograph, an item of the one now missing as a surrogate. This poem so eloquently relates the desperation of a search for such an item and its implimentation in preserving a memory. A most lovely wording enhances the story and cloths it in poetic dignity.

So beautiful, and sad.
It is difficult when loved ones pass, and all that is left is their memory.
Even in death there can still be romance.
I do love trees.
Very much enjoyed reading this poem.
Well done.
Take good care Marie.
Blessings.
