Uninvited Guest.

Uninvited Guest.

A Poem by Marie

He may burrow his way

Through a hole in your wall

Appear out of nowhere

When your husband you call

Scurry across the floor

As calm as can be

One evening while you

Are watching tv

He may tear up your paper

To make a soft nest

And eat your choice food

Leaving the rest

Or gnaw through the wiring

So your electrics won’t work

Evading each trap you set

Treating you like a dork!

One day you may wake

To find you’ve no guest

The visiting rodent

Is no longer a pest

Something will feel missing

As you go through your house

You never thought you’d think so

But, you miss the little wee mouse!

What a fun read. I have had mice and even rats in the house before but what I miss most is the 9 foot snake that lives in the rafters. We gave her a name and she would just slither on by never bothering us. She did keep the bats down, and I haven’t seen a mouse or rat in the house so your poem was fun to read and reminded me of the critters that I have had in the past. Thanks for sharing.

Such a fun read. Light and heartful. the little pesky guests that run around and make you scream around. Rats are always a subject of discussion in the house, when you see one of them. This is such a light hearted take on them. Enjoyed reading it. Thanks for sharing, Marie.

I can see how one might become attached to a"little wee mouse." Somehow, I doubt a "fat rat" would inspire the same sense of companionship.
