Afternoon Cacophony.

Afternoon Cacophony.

A Poem by Marie

A choir of barking dogs sing,

their chorus fills the air,

mingled with Mother Nature’s notes

as little birds sing without a care

on the branches of a nearby tree.

Unseemly words from next door's neighbour

to his son, echo back to me.

Their radio blaring in the background

plays a melancholic tune

and I am trapped within the sound net

on a hot August afternoon!

Just loved the playfulness of the rhyme in this piece as it scampers from end to end to internal and from one line to an unexpected other. It was so light and carefree. The interplay between nature, domesticated animals and man covers all bases of the living even the plant kingdom is introduced. Music the chord that ties all together I see it under the rubric of string theory where vibrations constitute the makeup of the universe in vibrations of strings and so we are all nothing more than the music of the universe. And finally technology is introduced in the form of the radio. We are all trapped in a sound net or maybe I have gone too far and it is just a beautiful image painted in words of a poet. Lovely

Sounds like a good day to be inside in the air conditioned quiet. Today is a great day to be outside here, very nice, dry, sunny and cool like an early Autumn morning. I've been out and about for hours, enjoying the cool.

I sure hope you weren't trying to concentrate on something, like WRITING! Of the attention-wrecking sounds you mention, only the chirping birds were pleasant and fairly unobtrusive. (But only if they were singing and not squabbling) I have long dreamt of a cabin in the woods where only quiet forest sounds would attempt to foil my pensive nature. Hopefully, you will continue your marvelous creativity, despite the interruptions.

I like the deceptively simple ambience portrayed here. Wonderful and yet everyday.

The little birds can be treasured, the dogs borne, but the damned neighbor has got to go.
