Do I sense a metaphor here? Dangers abound and we take flight from what might be only a friendly encounter (greeting). People are so afraid now days that greeting people in the street is no longer expected. My wife gives rides to the homeless and hitchhikers despite warnings and has had no bad occurances, Leaving doors unlocked no longer wise now days but I have never locked one in over 50 years. I refuse to knuckel under to fears of the present

Yes, fear is thriving our world, but I am like your dear wife and you. I leave the key on the door every day and at night when Tom is at the pub because he forgets his key more often than not. I never lock our door going to bed. There is nothing to fear except fear itself. Thank you so very much for kindly reading and for your spot on review, my dear friend...
Can't say I blame the little birds for being wary but jumping straight to "I'm going to die" might not always be the right answer. Although, cats and birds...... they might also not have been too far off. I'm going to choose to believe the cat in this case meant them no harm since it was "running to greet them". This must be a friendly cat who just wanted to make a new friend. May his friend making endeavors go better in the future. Maybe the birds will only hover in the air next time so they can exchange pleasantries.

Cats and birds , ahh nearly as ill suited as men and women. No wings to fly amongst the humans, more's the pity.
I have seen two crows beleaguer a squirrel picking him up by the ear and dropping him upon his dignity. Crow sport I suppose.

Amused that two crows could pick up a little squirrel by his ear and drop him from a height! Thought he would be too heavy for them to lift! Naughty crows! I hope the little squirrel wasn't hurt in the process? Thank you for reading and for your lovely comment, Delmar...

Whew! Those little guys had a close call! How perilous the lives of blackbirds. If it's not getting baked in a pie, it's being p***y cat dinner. I hope they find a perch so high in a tree that nothing can harm them. This made me smile, Marie.

I am smiling too. I know it's a very naive little poem, but it is a scene which I saw take place before my eyes a few evenings ago as I was sitting here at the computer and looking out the window. I wanted to believe the little cat was just being friendly, but they weren't taking any chances. He looked after them as they were half way to the sky from him and I think he might have been a little puzzled as to why they flew away! So pleased it gave you a little smile, Sam and thank you again for such a nice review. I so appreciate your kindness, dear friend...
