Lethal Temptation.

Lethal Temptation.

A Poem by Marie

Fatal temptation,
lover of yore.
Into my life
you have entered once more.
Taken by surprise,
memories’ guest.
Remembering ‘our time’
and feeling quite blessed.
Time is our master,
so little left.
Enjoying your company,
at peace with myself.
I look at my watch,
it’s time to go.
We part with a promise,
“I still love you so!”
He won my hand,
but you won my heart.
I fondly remember,
as memories depart.

What is implied in this offering is more important than what is actually said. The speaker is letting us know she did not marry the man she actually loved. However, he has reentered her life in the later years. Still, she understands the time is past for rekindling romance. She is careful, however, even as they part, to let him know how much he meant to her. A very moving, well rhymed piece here.

Marie this poem has an obvious surface meaning. It seems as if it is a message to a past lover that has been held in one’s heart over the years. Even though both have not unified memories linger, and this lover is the choice of the heart. In reading this, I wondered if it might not also be taken as the dwelling on the past being the lover. We often spend much of our time in past what ifs. The dwelling on what could’ve been captures our heart more than what is. A haunting piece that lingers in the mind long after it has been read. Absolutely lovely

Wow. This one digs deep into places unmentionable. I've had similar thoughts about the mate I chose and the one I really wanted. Perhaps the desired one is imaginary and only exists in dreams where the heart wanders and wonders what might have been. (I'm guilty of that) Truly inspired--I love it.
