Can You See Me?

Can You See Me?

A Poem by Marie
"

God asks each of us to see within each other a spark of Him, a spark of the divine. If we recognise The Source within each other we will treat each other with love and make our world a better place...

"

I am the common every day person you meet

Each time you walk down a crowded street

The one who walks with a limp or utters in stammer

Speech perfect or incorrect grammer

I am the destitute looking for alms

The sick with life’s ills seeking out balms

The man in a field ploughing a furrow

The impending suicide without hope of tomorrow

The soldier fighting for his country at war

The drunk who props up his favourite bar

The teenage couple so madly in love

Who coo to each other like the gentle white dove

The Monarch who rules his kingdom and land

The singer who fronts your favourite band

The proud mother smiling at her newly born child

The old person in hospital sedated and soiled

The writer, composer, the artist supreme

The planets, the stars that twinkle and gleam

The brickie who skillfully carries his hod

In all of my children

I am

GOD

Author's Note

Marie
I tried to envisage this poem as God speaking to His children, telling each of us that a spark of Him lives within us, in the hope that we would see beyond colour, race, religion and be loving, kind, caring and helpful to each other as we walk the path of life in this lifetime...

Jesus didn't hang out with the wealthy and powerful, but with the kind of people found in this wise and inspiring poem. It is beyond my understanding why so many who call themselves "Christians" behave in ways so unlike Jesus. He threw the money-changers out of the temple, but now they're back in. (In many cases) Mega churches, prosperity gospel--these are not pleasing in God's eyes. I love this poem, for it speaks truth.

This is something to remember at those times when we are confronted by overwhelming examples of bad behavior. Times like now.

I get that "WE" are all equal in the eyes of God, and God is US. Well-written observation we should all remember.

Thank you for reading and kindly commenting, Thomas...
Although not religious, i really liked this poem...you showed just about every kind of human.. in a very descriptive way.... and in your eyes, they are all the same, yet under God!
I believe we are all the same, forgetting about our infirmities we are equal....
Warmly, B

Most welcome, dear Betty, always...
If a man cannot find God in his fellow man it is doubtful he shall be able to find God elsewhere. John wrote, "God is love." If that be true (and I've no reason to doubt it) then what if people running around saying "I love you" all day long were forced to change the statement to, "I feel God for you." It might seem a bit less romantic but it certainly would weed out the liars pretty quick. F.
