3. InteractionA Chapter by Sara“Mom,
its bad enough they are staying here. But now we go to the same school?!” I
crossed my arms and huffed. My mom shook her head and sighed. “We moved here to
escape the feud back home. Don’t start another one here!” I groaned; our
argument was not even worth the struggle. I walked up to my room, flinging
myself on the bed. I stared up at the ceiling. My mind was racing about what
would occur tomorrow and how everyone would react. I sighed and shut my eyes. s Then
I opened them, because apparently people like to scream as loud as they can on
the streets. I looked at my clock " it was 42:65. I looked back at the floor
then my head shot up and looked back at the clock. 42:65? I blinked then the person screamed again, causing me to look
back at my window. I stood up and walked over " and what I saw made me want to
scream. Someone lying dead in the street, vampires on one side, werewolves on
the other. They leapt at each other, howls and screams echoing down the
streets. I shook my head, wanting it to stop. Sophie, a voice whispered behind me. I whirled around, only to be
met by a shadowy figure that threw itself on me and consumed me in darkness. s “Sophie!”
I shot up in bed, my hair a mangled mess. “Wha…?” I looked up at my mom. “Get
up!” she said, “Unless you want to be late again.”
I looked at the clock. “Crap!” ssssssss Liza
punched Dylan in the arm. “Ow!” he said, rubbing the spot where she had hit
him. “What the hell was that for?” Liza shrugged and continued walking. “You
seem so out of it.” She said cheerfully, walking across the sidewalk. Dylan
shook his head and looked down at the round. 34:57. He repeated the number in his head. Something about that
dream that struck him as odd. “Aw, s**t!” Liza suddenly said. “We’re gonna be
late! Race ya!” She sped off, leaving Dylan far behind her. He grumbled and
took off after her. ssssssss I
got to school just as the first bell rang. I growled, knowing that I would have to sit in the principal’s
office until next period. I walked into the office area and sat down where the
tardy kids sit. I got the same look from the secretary as I always do " the
‘Oh-it’s-you-again’ look. I
sighed, and dropped my book bag on the floor. I put my elbow on the desk and
leaned against my hand, planning to silently wait an hour and a half all by
myself. But of course my luck
would run out and someone walked into the door. I looked up as the scent hit
me, and the wolf looked over at me as well. He looked back at the secretary and
mumbled a few words but she shook her head and pointed over to me. He stood
their staring at her, and then slowly walked over to where I was sitting "
great. He
sat down across from me and immediately looked in the other direction. I don’t
know what really came over me at that moment, but quite frankly, that just
ticked me off. He moved out here to avoid the conflict but now he was causing
another one. “Um…” I said quietly. He looked over at me slowly, surprised to
actually hear me talking to him. “I’m Sophie…” I said, scratching my head a
little. He nodded then looked away, obviously confused. “This is where you tell
me…your name?” I said expectantly. He surprised me by smirking and looking back
at me. “Is it?” he said sarcastically. I blinked and nodded, trying to convey
no emotion in my face. He sighed and leaned over the table in front of me. “I’m
not really the talking type, especially w-“ “Yeah,
yeah, yeah. Werewolves and vampires and all that. But it was my understanding
we all moved here to avoid that kind of thing.” I raised an eyebrow and leaned
back, crossing my arms. He looked at me for a second then looked down at the
table, like he was thinking about what I just said. “I suppose you’re right.”
He said, looking back up at me with a small smile on his face. That surprised
the hell out of me. © 2011 Sara |
