I need a job

I need a job

A Story by San Herman Lopez a.k.a. Sanzei
"

Just thoughts and feelings. (Not a Poem)

"
Darkness... Calm... Sleep...

I slowly open my eyes...
I stare at the selling and tell my self. What do I do now?

I use the bathroom and wash my teeth.
I drink a breakfast shake, and finally get in front of my laptop.
I find good music or something to listen to, itunes podcast perhaps.
I then check my e-mails for any leads or possible interviews.
Nothing...

Frustration sets in and I feel energy going away...

All I could do is continue job searching.
So I re-send out  resumes and look for new jobs posted.
All this I do every morning.
So this is my job? Well it pays nothing...

I've attempted several times to walk in to places and ask for work...
They all say the same thing. Apply on line.
This is the way of the world now.

Reminds me of that animated movie with that little robot.
He lives alone in a world destroyed by Humans.
Humans that no longer communicate face to face.
All... All is technology. Nature is no longer visible to human eyes.
Computers and cell phones are your soul mates. You get the picture I'm sure.

Everything has become so tech dependent so non-organic.
I remember going to places to get a job and talking my way into a position.
People would tell me you have good charisma.
Now I think to myself. How can you show charisma on a form or with text?

Some say it's become easier, I say it's become less Human.

So everyday I ask my self... What do I do now?

And I say, become less HUMAN...

I have to go, my cell phone is ringing.

I relate to this, I was unemployed 3 times in the past 2 years.
The job of finding a job is frustrating
You said it smoothly
Everything is cold and distant, that is technology
This is exactly when you should keep being more human
Writing pulled me through this time, kept me productive
Now no one can tell me my value
Tell me what to do
What I am worth
My focus shifted, a job is a job
its a way to make a living
writing makes a life
now if only we can make a living with the way we make a life
life would be a treat :)
hang in there my dear lion xoxox

so true.....when I was looking for a teaching job I had to submit an over-all application on the internet, so prospective school districts could look over my credentials....where is the humanness of that interaction? In the beginning of my teaching career on an interview I so impressed a principal he wwanted to create a position for me, that is not ever going to happen online....we have lost simple time- space connections, and yes, with that, part of our humanity got taken over by technology.

i really hate how you have to apply online at a lot of places now. it's all computer based and less personal as your poem states so well. excellent piece

wtf? If you are against technology why are you here?
Computers are only the devil if you waste your life away and get fat in front of them xD and that is your fault, not the computer's.

I can relate to this, I'm job searching now and I wish someone would just give me an interview so they can actually meet me! Your poem is spot on.

:)
There is a lot of truth in the last part of the poem, and sadly i think that a lot of people share your condition.
Don't worry, you are sure to find a job sometime, if you look hard enough, might not be exactly what you dreamt of but it will solve some of your troubles.

Your poem isn't much of a poem, it's more like a random confession that is neither verse or prose, i am a little disappointed by that fact.

so good to read you - and there is a deep lesson in your words. It is so easy these days to forsake humanity for the flickering screen. peace.

You summed up the growing dehumanizing of humanity nicely. I have a piece for you to read that I will read request you. As for the job hunt, don't give up. Also, you might want to think about the things you are good at and perhaps using those talents to start your own business. It won't be easy, but if can pull it off it will be well worth it in the long run. Kudos to you human.
