The New Norm

One day the world did suddenly change.

Many thoughts did rattle my brain.

Yesterday forever gone, this is insane.

with the life-changing events,

life will never be the same.

As I look back at yesteryear.

My eyes do puddle full of tears.

This new era brings man many fears,

troubled times are surely here.

Social distancing use to be missing.

Now everywhere I go, there is great hissing.

Wearing of masks to complete daily tasks.

Staying six feet apart is a good start,

as long as everyone is doing their part.

Self-quarantine is a must, of great need.

follow these life-saving instructions down to the T.

Please stay at home if need be.

Washing of hands and wearing a mask,

distancing ones self, protecting the spread.

Social gatherings need to be limited;

although it makes some offended.

As for the pandemic, it's here to stay.

No one knows when it will go away.

Staying safe involves the whole human race.

No one knows the future or fate.

Pandemic killed lots of people; we have to protect the vulnerable. Many measures were taken to help, many truths and lies were shared.

First of yours I have read. A reminder of lockdowns and masks. It all seems so long ago now and even the fear of those first weeks seem to have softened. What hasn’t is the death of my brother in law as a result of COVID and not being able to visit my elderly mother in the final years of her life. A horrible time for all. Thank you for sharing. A well written poem.
