Candy Origin

english word called candy,

derives from Arabic, quadi

something made of sugar or

honey made from bees.

candy is awesome

and as sweet as can be,

it tantalizes taste buds

whenever you eat.

has an agreeable,

pleasant and delightful taste,

it is not bitter, sour or salty,

the texture is simply great.

the origin of candy has

a very long history,

early man created the idea

1500BC.

man ate honey combs

and honey that was dandy.

a sweet jubilation,

oh my goodness it is candy.

the first kind of candy,

sugar coated fruit, nuts,

and seeds,

back in ancient medicine,

used licorice and jujubes,

to heal sickness,

and lesson infirmities,

it's hard to believe

but they did this,

yes indeed!

marvelous creation.

cured any sweet tooth seen.

in later days those two drugs

became modern day candy.

ancient Egyptians mixed fruit,

nuts, dates and spice

with lots of sticky honey.

this was their sheer delight.

the greeks used the same

ingredients

to make candy, honey coated fruit

and honey glazed flowers.

they were clever artists.

and they're creations were enticing.

and part of their cuisine.

during the middle ages

candy was in demand,

a sought out delicacy

for those who were wealthy.

and the higher class clans..

by the seventeenth century,

sugar was in shortage,

there was a big need.

England and America

ate boiled sugar candles,

mixed with fruit and nut.

used this candy.

it must have been rough.

for them to eat candy

that was tough.

but let's not forget

about turkish delight.

this form of candy

was clearly out of sight.

seventeen sixty-five,

first chocolate factory climbed.

in the united states,

who could not wait

for their turn,

for a prosperous

enterprise confirmed.

during the eighteenth century,

caramels and lollipops,

came about using factories.

they would manufacture candy.

hard candy like lemon drops,

peppermints sure hit the spot.

last but not least,

the nineteenth century,

after the discovery

of sugar beet,

used to sweeten candy.

it comes from the beet,

as a matter of fact,

it's sugar is extracted,

manufactured,

this is factual.

an alternative sugar

source to cane,

was made.

advancement, betterment,

in the mechanical age,

had made it's way.

mass amounts of candy

were manufactured.

use of color

and different flavors,

to quench satisfaction

these were added

to the candy.

assortment of flavors

for everyone to savor.

yum,yum!

England was the

first country

to produce hard candy,

in large quantities.

eighteen fifty-one,

large amounts of

assorted boiled sweets,

bonbons, caramels

chocolate cream,

and candy bars,

to devour,

a chocolate lover's dream.

I got a golden ticket!

I got a golden ticket!

I got a golden ticket

in my hands!

there were many more

delicious kinds of candy created.

these candies were representing

Europe and America.

candy is grand.
