Freedom Rings

Freedom Rings

A Poem by Celie Rose
"

Commemorating the adoption of declaration of independence.

"
Freedom Rings
an ongoing fierce battle
for independence ensues.
gunfire, cannon ball strikes,
attacks pursue,
wings of freedom,
at doorstep,
close at hand,
in clear view.

Thursday, July 4, 1776,
commemorating adoption,
declaration of independence,
henceforth.
new horizon, chapter begins.
brand new way of life descends.
grand day of glory, indeed!

ooh we! we're now free!
us, thirteen original colonies.
no longer attire,
under fire from Britain's empire.
burst her bubble,
caused necessary trouble.
her pipe dream of submission,
blow to smithereens, smitten,
new laws written.

we the people,
a headstrong steeple,
founding fathers,
an honor,
nations foundation,
truly amazing!

sending Britain off
with a whimpering fiery blaze,
did she really think we'd stay?
proved our point,
went on our way, hooray!

heavy levy taxes, gone far from us,
comforting, and so just.
demonstrations, strikes, protests,
confirmed determination,
to flee, get out from this place.
we deciding to part,
from the unfairness,
that injustice imparts.

decision sparked off fireworks,
great celebration, joyful jubilation.
valiant black stallion,
jumped to hind legs,
as victory, his general declares.
such an awesome sight to see,
freedom rings.

A wonderful poem capturing the elation and victory of being free, the fight for this freedom so impassioned, the declaration of our nation. It is good to harken back to that time and recapture the essence of our founding fathers intentions, to celebrate and remember our beginnings. I am the grand-daughter of an immigrant who came here because of these freedoms and opportunities, and I remember what he was looking for, a different dream than the American Dream we seem to hold up now. In the light of this week, we must remember who we are, why we fought through generations for independence from England, and from oppressors of freedom in my lifetime. Thank you for sharing this remembrance of when this nation began and why it was founded.

I think it's time to do it again! This nation is in turmoil. Spirited use of all ten words. "Let Freedom Ring" for many generations to come. I'm not sure our forefathers would appreciate what is happening today. I think about what they would do differently, if anything. I believe, as a people, we are spiraling out of control. It can not keep going on like it is without consequence. Thank you for sharing a celebratory poem with us!
Nice job.
