Don't Straddle The Fence

Don't Straddle The Fence

A Poem by Celie Rose
"

There is a choice we all must make. Do you straddle the fence?

"
Cannot serve both of them and pursue riches
By Straddling the fence you tear your britches.
Devoted to one but despising the other.
noncommittal lust to my equivocal brother!

It will not mix, cannot serve two masters.
It's a real recipe for imminent disasters.
You'll Love just one, the other hate and shun.
Selfish desire to straddle the fence has begun!

Double-minded, wavers between two opinions.
Make a choice, stick to it, one has dominion!
Dibble dabble with fate, two serious situations!
Absolutely no care or concern for any revelations.

Money, greed and fame, you have made your god.
Wake up, smell the roses, this is only a facade.
I want more! I want more, seek material gain.
You leave your options open but in who's name.

You want the best of two worlds without consequence.
Make your mind over and do not stall, have confidence.
World of ungodly and a kingdom which promises life.
Choice is up to you. Gift of free will without device.

You long for and crave ungodly success.
Deep inside you know what is right, what's best.
But, you straddle the fence and remain indecisive.
Adhere to showy means, flashy lifestyle one's live.

You appear to favor both sides of this issue.
Straddling the fence hoping He will forget you.
Water and oil, will never combine!
Why do you sit there wasting your time?

You claim you are saved, your actions disprove.
Avoid full commitment, responsibility and dues.
Mugwumps sit on the fence on the verge of losing.
Mug on one side, wump on the other, alluding.

Undecided about taking a stand, lacking virtue.
Sitting or standing astride, refusing action or view.
You're doing a different kind of split.
You're not taking a side or refusing to commit.
Do something! Stop straddling the fence, quit it!

Respect and honor without acceptance of it's role.
Faced with decision that could redeem the soul.
Actions speak louder than words. This is fact!
Don't straddle the fence, decide, choose and act!

Life and death is hanging in the balance.
Straddling the fence is not good, it's outlandish!
One foot planted in the world, worship two gods.
You continue to straddle the fence, this is odd.

So blinded by darkness, unable to take a stand.
On both sides of the fence, straddled without plan.
It will be sad for you, if you decide not to choose.
Choice already made without choosing, seals your doom.

Good writing. I can relate to straddling the fence when I want to make a choice that is not good for me. I really enjoyed the poem.
