The Undying LightA Poem by Frederick P SamsonWe go on long after we are gone
Outside, was rested, on a chair,
The night, my eyes where lent, What lies, I quested, as I stirred, Doth lights, with shine intent, As I so gestured, long a glare, A sight, it came by, so it went, My mind requested, from a flare, Ignited, flames thy smoke had scent, An aroma, I know, ever remembered, As a wind reminiscent, blows past, A moment, was shown, lit by glowing ember, Though cinder, evanescence, so cast, The distance, so it never returned, Lightening strikes, as sudden as it blows out, Though it's existence, forever burns, Reciting thunder, might, so echo without, And so, life flashes, from afar, All we have is times gone bye, I look at the ashes of the stars, That still brighten the night sky. © 2020 Frederick P Samson |
