they have a new god

they have a new god

A Poem by Freder Fredersen (aka Grady)
"

ring! ring!

"

they have a new god

they built it out of plywood

and short comings

nailed it wirh

endless maybes

painted it's face

to look like a proper

dad

now they cry to it daily

begging for change

grasping for hope

and well,

sometimes it works

sometimes it doesn't

but the damn thing

never

talks

back.

It might be the mood I'm in, but I reckon it's down to you being a genius; this is hilarious man, pure gold. What you've written, if I've the right to define, is a spectacular expos of people's need to worship something and the almost business-like way they go around choosing them, like shopping for saviours.

Your one-word lines are like intrepid Viking ships, setting off into the stormy waters of What Poetry Is Meant To Be.

I said before that you revived my hope for modern poetry. I think, now, you've probably revived poetry itself!

All the pretty graven images...has an edge and a dark side, yet it retains the FF-issue spark of humor and touch of pure madness. Short, but impressive nonetheless.
