Love or Annihilation

Love or Annihilation

A Poem by Freder Fredersen (aka Grady)
"

A different type of write for me. But I am pleased with the shape it has taken.

"

Her lashes are ebon dragon claws
Grasping mystical malachite orbs;
Beautiful cursed enticements
Acid-lapping destruction on any male resolve.
Her lips are crimson confections,
Perhaps, laced with honey-sweet hemlock.
Her body is the softest heavenly curves,
Possibly swaddling a hell-bound soul.

She may be a black hole masquerading
As a boundless starry universe. . .

And I am a b*****d starship
Adrift in her wondrous wretched expanse.

My heart at the ill-driven helm;
Quixotic young captain with
Eyes burning azure anxiety,
And mouth spewing naïve courage.

My sharp mind left somewhere on Earth;
Perhaps sleeping in my abandoned bed.
Let it slumber on in dreamless dormancy.

“Now approaching love or annihilation.
Prepare to prosper or die.”

One is in awe of a very admirable beauty and, being in such state, this is almost synonymous to losing oneself. Thus, it could lead to either love or annihilation. I like these lines:

My sharp mind left somewhere on Earth;
Perhaps sleeping in my abandoned bed.
Let it slumber on in dreamless dormancy.

So enticing yet so frightening.
I like this piece of yours.

It's a bit grey out over here as a matter of fact, but I had to laugh at "I'm a b*****d starship". Brilliant use of imagery and language, I love the kind of sardonic thing going on. I get the feeling of being overpowered by love, but while not being cynical or resentful you feel somewhat resolved in your utter abandonment to that other somebody. Awesome, I'll be taking a look at your other work.

Wonderful Grady...sensuality, humour and sci fi . Made me think of Battlestar Gallactica and Star Trek (the adult version) Out of this world. Loved it.

i like this rigid, edgey..... persuasive push/pull you make the reader engage in. its a swell of eroticism coupled with subtlety.
