There Will be No LaughterA Poem by Freder Fredersen (aka Grady)I dunno! Just happened.“there will be no laughter!”
the cynical jester mockingly said,
“because even humor offends hypocrites because shadows only hide deeds, not intents, because evil is not in a name, but is brandished because tears receive higher ratings and blot vision and view more easily”
“there will be no laughter!”
the statuesque politician retorted,
“because no matter how ridiculous, these are not laughing matters; these tragedies, because people laughing are less likely to fear, and fear is the only catalyst in long supply; we’ve used the rest because if you take life too lightly you’re brave, then terror and alarmism seems silly, because unburdened minds think for themselves, and thinking is a terrible habit unless you hold office”
then all laughed, as the jester danced, and the politician banged his gavel furiously © 2009 Freder Fredersen (aka Grady)Author's Note
