Chasing Our Tails

Chasing Our Tails

A Poem by Freder Fredersen (aka Grady)

shattered kingdoms, in time, may be made whole,
minds battered into thoughtless mire can heal,
murderous corpses may relocate their souls,
forests will sprout from ancestral ash fields.
life is a pattern of circular trails,
man, beast and nature are chasing their tails.

lucky winds don‘t ever blow; all is planned,
motion and fate: choreographed bedlam.
all fools believe they hold truths in their hands,

but truth is God’s hand, free of our dictums.
newness begins where every life ends,
orbital existences: spin, spin, spin.

spouting figures and touting so-called facts,

trails of dead myth and keen observation.

hurriedly following our own deep tracks

to rerun victorious frustrations.

life is a pattern of circular trails,

theologians and scientists chasing their tales.

life is temporary; the circle prevails.

very nice-makes you think. Not sure about choreographed bedlam, although it feels that way at times. I believe we choreograph much of our lives, and God might intervene if we stray upon the wrong path, or he might not. free will is an interesting concept, so is fate,....so, i guess we are just chasing our tails on that one, too! made me think how much I believe that God orders, how much we bring about ourselves, like I said, it makes you think!!!!

My favorite line was: "murderous corpses may relocate their souls"
I really like this poem. It really makes you think, and it's very powerful. Great, great job!

Love this- a much more gentler bookend to my poem (Pandora) with less existentential ambiguity attached as well. No beginning, no end- a circle of creation, chaotic choreography with Loki as the dance master. A powerful poem from a powerful writer.
