NumbA Poem by Fraser MurrayNot my usual style but I found it very interesting trying to deviate from it
Shapes coalesce in the darkness,
Take form then dissipate Spectres of past intentions so lightly surrendered to hopelessness, Quickly replaced as my soul grows cold with inaction, If life lacks direction, then I see no attraction, The rawest form of numbness permeates my being Mercilessly tearing asunder any suggestion of an answer to my myriad of questions A silent violence, And a violent silence Simultaneously creeping and sprinting, Wide-eyed and squinting Screaming and whispering Burning and blistering A horror film with no sound and no credits, Beyond myself, no audience, no cast, No monsters or villains, Just the steady and nauseating churning of an empty belly trying to fuel an empty mind The urgent, self-consuming hunger, an unintended masochism, A lifestyle limited by the stark absence of self-control from my corrupted genetics, All or nothing, Wasted or sober, Living or dying. © 2019 Fraser Murray |
