empty church (11- 7-19)

empty church (11- 7-19)

A Poem by alice

you step into the sanctuary,

your soul ablaze with sin.

you feel your spirit grow lighter,

but your conscience

grow increasingly heavier.

every sin, every blemish begins

to bubble to the forefront of

your mind.

as you stew in your unholiness and as

the sunlight slipped below the horizon

and the twilight emerged,

repose settled into your bones

sitting in that blissfully empty church.

the self-hatred slunk back and all of the love

began pouring in.

Enough time with God can change a person. It's kind of like an heroin addict that goes without it for a spell and the pain comes up bad. But when it's over, things improve slowly. That may be a bit much of an example but I'm tired so forgive me. haha
