Be Sure

This poem came to life one day after a petty argument.

Do not say good bye to me

Unless you know you are sure.

Once it’s said and done, my friend,

You will hear from me no more.

 

I will take you on your word

And hold those words as true.

So, make sure that you mean it

Before it’s voiced from you.

 

Cause nothing is to question

And nothing’s misunderstood.

I take it like I hear it

And then take the steps I should.

 

In a world of such confusion,

Indecisive is no cure.

Speak only what you know, friend

And say only what is sure.

 

Emotions aren’t the issue

If you’ve decided in your heart.

Whether or not it hurts me

Is not the decided part.

 

So, if you choose to say it,

Be sure in your heart and mind.

Cause come tomorrow morning

It is me you will not find.
