Vortex

Vortex

A Poem by Frank Rogers
"

I want it to be obvious what the subject of this one is...

"
Downturn turns down
and further down
a nest of ancient insects
already dry from the heat

Bodies gutless and legs
collapsed
those ancient insects
slide into downturn

just parching body-shell
falling in
to downturn
a twister of black and dust.

Now

a new insect
lean and less instinctive
built with more blood
crawls from vortex

cautious careful - cautious.
