White Picket Fences

White Picket Fences

A Poem by Francis Orion

Inner city kid

Busy street
Highway rumbles
Gravel yard
Broken sidewalks
Streetlights hum
Drunken fodder
From the corner bar
Chain links
Separates neighbors

Grows up to find
Quiet surroundings
Scenic views of
Natures color
White pickets fences
That still divide

He misses the noise

Thank you. I'm glad you liked it.
Like the poor kid that didnt know he was poor because everyone was, sometimes we miss the strangest things. Great writing, yet again.
